Çandarlı Port Tender

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications is going out to tender in March 24 for Izmir Çandarlı Port which will be one of the biggest 10 ports of the world.Thise giant port will make Turkey one of the most important transportatipn bases on west- east route. The pre- feasibilty study, the EİA and master plan preparations have been complieted fort he Çandarlı Port which will be the biggest in Turkey.The mole and the road connections are carried out by public funding and its tender will be made on 24th March by build-opearte-transfer model.

Çandarlı Port will cost 4.5 billion US dollars.These consruction work is expected to begin in the year of 2011.A large number of companies show significant interest in Çandarlı Port, the breakwater and infastructure works of which are done by the DHL (General Directorate of Railways, Ports and Airport Construction).

It is stated that the first ship will approach the port in 2013.4 million ships can enter and exit the Çandarlı Port.After the port becomes fully operational approximately 15.000 people will have been employed.The breakwater’s length will be 800 meters and water depth will be 40 meters and the ships which are over 200thousand tons will be able to approach the port.Candarlı Port will be four times larger than the Pire Port of Greece and it is expected to make a major contribution to the national economy.
