- Machinery sector has been the driving force behind industrialisation process of Turkey.
- Machinery-manufacturing sector has a share of 4.7% in the overall manufacturing sector.
- The value of production for Turkish machinery industry has reached approximately 18 billion USD and is expected to increase by 12-15% on average in the next five years.

- Machinery and accessories sector constituted 8.4% of Turkey’s overall exports.
- In comparison to 2006, the value of exports in machinery sector increased by 35% to 8.78 billion USD in 2007. In 2008, this figure increased by 17% in comparison to the year before and exceeded 10.3 billion USD.
- As of 2008, the entry that has carried out the biggest deal of export is engines and accessory parts.
- Export of engines and accessory parts totalled 1,27 billion USD in 2006, 1,43 billion USD in 2007, and 1,48 billion USD in 2008. Most of export is constituted by engine accessories and parts used in automotive industry.
- In 2008, exports of machinery manufacturing industry sector constituted 7.8% of overall exports.
- In 2008, 108.235 students graduated from 4622 vocational and technical high schools.
- In 2008, 6428 engineers graduated from 37 different engineering departments.
- Turkey ranks sixth among European countries in terms of total value of machinery manufactured.
- Today, Turkish machinery industry has a sales volume of 25 billion USD in total with a service of 11,000 machinery and accessories.
- Increase in product per annum within our machinery industry is around 20%.
- 80% of input used in production is manufactured in Turkey.

- Turkey is an EU Customs Union member since 1996 and engaged in EU accession negotiations
- Sector exports in machinery manufacturing industry are mainly to Germany, England, France, Italy, United States of America, Russia, Romania, Iran and Spain. Most of the exports are to European Union countries. These facts indicate that companies within machinery manufacturing industry in accordance with European Technical Legislations

Mercedes-Benz Turkish Manufacture Planning Manager Mr Çelik commented on the quality level reached in the machinery sector: “We have nine mangles and all of them came from our facility located in Dirinler, İzmir. About 10 years ago, we renewed all of our mangles. We decided to purchase new machines from the domestic market and we are very glad about our decision.
