The objective of ANIMA is to contribute to a better investment and business climate and to the growth of capital flows into the Mediterranean region
ANIMA Investment Network commenced its operation as an intergovernmental support platform for the economic development in Mediterranean in the midst of 2006. In line with this target, the ANIMA Project has been making an effort in contributing to strenghtening investment promotion agencies, gaining a new economic image to the Mediterranean and drawing important investment projects to the region. In recent years, foreign direct investment has considerably increased in North Africa and Middle East; while it was around US$ 10 billion in early 2000s, it exceeded US$ 30 billion in 2005 and it reached US$ 50 billion in 2006 and amounted to US$ 60 billion in 2007 (UNCTAD).
In order to strengthen this momentum even more and make the Euroasia region more attractive for the international companies, ANIMA Investment Network performs the following activities;
- To carry out activities in order for the governments to mutually provide a stable, transparent and egalitarian investment environment;
- To develop the cooperation between all shareholders relevant to economic development;
- To start new enterprises for the promotion of business opportunities and encouragement of partnerships
Since June 2006, ANIMA continues its activities as an independent organization uniting all ths shareholders. A governing body in which various Mediterranean regions are represented is present within the structure of this new organization and the executive agency is located in Marseille. |
