	The Law on the Establishment, Coordination and Tasks of the Development Agencies no.5449 dated 25th of January 2006 was enacted and published in the Official Gazette no.26074 dated 8th of February 2006. Cabinet decree stipulating the Establishment of Development Agencies in some Level 2 Regions no. 2006/10550 was published in the Official Gazette no. 26220 dated 6th of July 2006 and İzmir Development Agency with the center being İzmir was established in the TR31 Level 2 region.
