According to the researches held by T.R. Prime Ministry State Planning Organization, Aliağa is the 3rd most developed town of Turkey other than the metropolitan towns after Körfez and Gebze. Thus Aliağa is the most developed town of İzmir. It realizes 22% of Aegean Region's total exports and produces 1-1.3% of Turkey's GNP per capita.

The economy of Aliağa which was based on agriculture until early 60's, has gained an industrial character after 1970's as the town was declared as "heavy industrial zone" according to the planned development" principal of Turkish Constitution of 1961

There are Facilities of Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation, TUPRAŞ Turkish Petroeum Refineries Co, PETKİM Petrochemical Holding A.Ş., Petrol Ofisi and other LPG warehouses and filling facilities, fuel oil warehouses and distribution facilities, steel and iron factories, ship breaking facilities, Pulp and Paper Factory, Fertilizer Factories and Rolling mills in Aliağa region.

The Aliağa-based steel and iron industry realizes 25% of Turkey's iron production. The plants and Rolling mills make  scrap based production.

Many harbours in the vicinity, Biçerova Freight Station and the Motorway conecting İzmir to Çanakkale and İstanbul  played a very important role in Aliağa's industrial development.

Finally Aliağa became an industrial hub after the establishment of  Aliağa Organized Industrial Zone in 1997.

Our zone is 65 km away from İzmir downtown. It’s possible to reach the zone by following İzmir-Çanakkale E-87 highway from İzmir downtown and turning right from the 67th km and then driving along the 5km long double lane road.

Our zone is 9 km away from the district centre of Aliağa and 12 km away from the Biçerova loading station. A big step has been taken on the current highway for the uninterrupted transportation from the downtown through Gaziemir and Çiğli tunnels that have been built between İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport-Aliağa. There are also connections available through toll highway to the Aydın, the neighbor city of İzmir; double road from İzmir to the city of Manisa, and toll highway to Çeşme, the holiday destination of İzmir.

The project including the crossroads arrangement that will ensure the entry and quits to the front part of the entrance of our zone from the highway that will make up the connection of Northern Aegean Çandarlı Port which will be the biggest one in Mediterranean and will be placed among the top then ports in the world with İzmir city is at the preparation phase of the preliminary projects.

Transportation to our zone through the highway with İzmir freeway is going to provide economic solutions in the raw material and product transfer.

The zone is forming a production center that has a big part in the country’s economy with the employment to be created, foreign trade and production capacity by ensuring that industry giants which have a say in the world economy will take their parts in our zone. With the productions centers, the creation of a center which aims toward development with all its dimensions besides the industry production and which embodies the production of new technologies, information production, production of qualified labor, qualified service production, qualified goods production is being targeted.

Furthermore, in parallel with the success of our participants, to have the global companies in our zone, to increase the industry diversification and turn ALOSBİ into the world leader in its own sector.
