Investment Legislation

Turkey’s investment legislation is simple and complies with international standards, while it offers equal treatment for all investors.

The backbone of the investment legislation is made up of the Encouragement of Investments and Employment Law No. 5084, Foreign Direct Investments Law No. 4875, the Regulation on the Implementation of the Foreign Direct Investment Law, multilateral and bilateral investment treaties and various laws and related sub-regulations on the promotion of sectorial investments.

Employees and Social Security

Employment conditions in Turkey are essentially regulated through the Labour Law. In line with the international regulations on the nature and requirements of work and work life, different labour contract types have been stipulated in the Labour Law. Parties may adjust the labour contract based on their demands providing the compliance with the provision of the law.

Social Security System

The social security system in Turkey went through a major transformation in 2007, resulting in a more efficient and fast functioning system.

Terms of Employment

Terms of employment in Turkey are mainly governed by the Labor Law and Trade Union Law.

Termination of Employment Contract

Employers and employees are required to give specified notification periods prior to the termination of an employment contract.
